The international airport in the state of Karnataka is also known as the Kempegowda International Airport. The airport is situated at a distance of 40 km from the central area of Bangalore. The airport is owned and operated by GVK group. It began its operations in the year 2008 and since then serves as the hub for Air Asia, Air Pegasus, Jet Airways, Spice Jet, Deccan Charters and Blue Dart Aviation.

Terminals and Facilities at Bangalore Airport

The ICAO code of the airport is VOBL while the IATA code is BLR. There is one passenger terminal in the airport which is fully air conditioned and is also a four level building. The check in and baggage facilities are all located on the ground floor. Bangalore airport is winner of many awards and recognitions by various airport rankings and agencies.

The airport is also known for the various services which are provided to the passengers. There are several restaurants and cafes located within the premises of Bangalore International Airport the facility of duty free shopping is also available at the airport and there are several lounges too maintained by airlines for the business class and first class passengers.

The airport is very well located and is connected well with all parts of the city. The taxis and buses are available easily from the airport from time to time. There is also a high speed rail link approved by the authorities which will come up near the airport very soon. The airport is named after the founder of the city of Bangalore Kempe Gowda.
