Chandigarh Airport is an international grade customs airport in the union territory of Chandigarh. It functions as a civil enclave for the Indian Air Force and is built at a distance of around 9 km from the main city. It has also been listed amongst the primary airports located in this part of the country. According to reports, work related to the establishment of an international terminal is set to be complete.

It hosts 26 domestic level flights in total so that you can stay connected to various corners of the country, While the AAI (Airports Authority of India) holds 51% stake in the Chandigarh Airport, the remaining is shared equally by the states of Punjab and Haryana. Initially, the airport was named as the Mohali international Airport as it is close to Mohali. But in 2008, its name was changed to Chandigarh International Airport with Haryana demanding a stake in it.
Mohali will be hosting a new terminal very soon that will be used for international flights. It is said that the existing domestic terminal will then be utilized solely as a flying club. Chandigarh International Airport operates a number of international and domestic airlines out which the most popular ones include Jet Airways, SpiceJet, GoAir and JetLite. It operates around 3,728 flights on a weekly basis and the most sought after destinations include Bangalore and Mumbai.
